The Benchmark Series

Repeatable tests. Honest measures.

Repeatable Paddock-style work capacity tests, with the standards published here. Run the same test, to the same standard, and your progress becomes the comparison.

  • Same test, same standard

Each benchmark is run to a fixed published standard, so every repeat is directly comparable.

  • Repeat it, don't chase it

Come back to the same test later in your training and let the result tell the truth.

  • Your progress is the comparison

The effort that matters most is measured against your last attempt, not anyone else's.

Teamwork, communication and grit — shared load, shared finish.

The workout

  1. 15 km run — run together, stay together
  2. 2200 sandbag over shoulders — share the reps; one partner works at a time
  3. 31 km walking lunges — bodyweight; move together, side by side
  4. 4200 sandbag over-shoulder squats — share the reps
  5. 54 km row — split the row however you choose
Scoring

Weight standards
Men 50 kg sandbag; Women 35 kg sandbag. Teams may use the same sandbag throughout.
Equipment
Sandbag, rower, open space.

Standards

  • Complete each station before moving to the next.
  • Partners must start and finish the run together.
  • Only one partner works at a time on the sandbag over shoulders.
  • Walking lunges are bodyweight and completed together, side by side.
  • Sandbag over-shoulder squats: the bag stays on the shoulders. If it touches the ground, that partner's set is over and the other partner must pick it up from the ground to continue.
  • The row can be split however the team chooses.
